Gardens by the Bay

Gardens by the Bay Ariel view of the Park  The Gardens of the Bay is a colorful futuristic park in the Marina bay area of Singapore. This is the most visited attraction in Singapore and is truly a spectacular creation. The park was built on 250 acres of reclaimed land and the sheer size of it is best seen from the observation deck of  the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. More information on this is available in my  blog linked here    https://www.travelwithravi.com/search/label/City%20of%20Singapore The Gardens have three main attractions-The Super Tree Grove, Cloud Forest conservatory and the Flower dome. I suggest you dedicate a whole day for this park. Begin the day early by visiting the observation deck on the Marina Bay Sands hotel to get an overall view of the entire city and  of the Garden.  Then continue down to visit the Garden.  Map of the Garden You can enter the park via the overpass from the Sands and the Dragonfly bridge. Head over...

City of Singapore

City of Singapore In my previous post called '"Visit Singapore",  I  had described the many ways you can travel from the airport to the city. Refer to the link below:     https://www.travelwithravi.com/p/visit-singapore.html , Now it's time to explore the City.  Singapore could be described as a large botanical garden with people living in it. All  major hotel chains have at least one property in Singapore. I recommend  choosing a hotel that is close to one of  the Singapore MRT stations. This makes it easier to get around.  Here is the...

Singapore "Jewel" at Changi Airport

Image
The Singapore "Jewel" at Changi Airport   Most travelers get to an airport a few hours before the flight , trek through check in, security, immigration and  then spend an hour or two at the duty free shops or restaurants on the airside of the terminal. This is because most airports in the world are designed as an entry and exit point and not as a destination. The Changi Airport Group decided that the journey of the travelers through Changi Airport needed to be memorable and they spent many years carefully planning an exhibit that would be a mega mall and a botanical garden. The Jewel is accessible from all the terminals with walkways and an inter-terminal train. There are early check in terminals in the Jewel so you do not have to lug your bags with you.      The Oculus   The whole building has a glass roof with an Oculus that showers water down from building from five stories up. This the called the rain vor...
